I’ve been a professional editor and writer for 34 years, and currently work at Greenlawn Press, a publisher of Christian books and periodicals in South Bend, IN. I am 59, with a B.A. from Notre Dame in creative writing and English literature, though I started out majoring in architecture. I've published two books of my own, an illustrated children's book and a nonfiction biography, and I've worked as an editor and publishing consultant on many other books over the years, too many to count. I love editing. Helping authors to express themselves well is my idea of a good time.
I’ve written three other plays not posted here (30 minutes, 90 minutes, 2 hours), two of which were produced by local community theater groups.
During the school year I assist in line-coaching and directing plays at Trinity High School (Shakespeare, Shaw, Chekhov, Williams, etc.). I produce and direct readers’ theater productions several times a year which are open to the public (Agatha Christie, Gilbert and Sullivan, Enid Bagnold, William Saroyan, etc.). I have also developed and maintained workshops for poets and fiction-writers.
My tastes run to classic theater, especially Shakespeare, of course, not to sensationalist or experimentalist approaches. I like plays—and write plays—with sturdy plots and strong, character-driven story lines. Talk about God, 5 Cents, with its black box setting, is about as experimental as I get.
