I’ve been a professional editor and writer for many years, and as retirement looms on the horizon I'd like to write more for the stage. Here are five plays which I invite you to read and send me comments on, pro or con.
Contemporary drama. A community of Catholic brothers has opened its doors to associate members, including women, and a young journalist arrives looking for a story. He finds it.
Tragedy set in Prussia, 1730. King Frederick William is a maniacally authoritarian and abusive father to the crown prince Frederick, later Frederick the Great. The prince's battle for his soul leads to death and betrayal.
Farce. 490 BC, Greece. Three amateurs attempt to stage a play during the Athenian Dionysian festival. A female playwright who is fleeing the wrath of the gods attempts to direct them. Deus ex machina.
